{"id":5363,"date":"2011-11-09T12:19:37","date_gmt":"2011-11-09T04:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/paksat-1r-starts-commercial-operations\/"},"modified":"2011-11-09T12:19:37","modified_gmt":"2011-11-09T04:19:37","slug":"paksat-1r-starts-commercial-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/paksat-1r-starts-commercial-operations\/","title":{"rendered":"PAKSAT-1R Starts Commercial Operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BEIJING, Nov. 9 (China Space News) \u2014 Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Nov. 5 announced that Pakistani communications satellite Paksat-1R had started commercial operations.<\/p>\n<p>He made the announcement at a special ceremony in Lahore, Pakistan, organized by China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) and the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) of Pakistan. <\/p>\n<p>A Long March-3B carrier rocket carried the satellite into space on Aug. 12 from Xichang Satellite Launch Center. After orbital transfer and testing, it was positioned at 37.8\u00b0E in the geostationary orbit and has since been operating smoothly, according to CGWIC. <\/p>\n<p>PAKSAT International (Pvt) Ltd., the commercial arm of SUPARCO, will operate Paksat-1R, which will replace the existing satellite Paksat-1. <\/p>\n<p>AKSAT-1R has 30 transponders with three communication antennas to cover South Asia, the Middle East, eastern Africa and some regions of Europe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEIJING, Nov. 9 (China Space News) \u2014 Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Nov. 5 announced that Pakistani communications satellite Paksat-1R had started commercial operations.
