Earth observation company Satellogic<\/b> is building a satellite manufacturing facility in the Netherlands. The new 57,000 square foot facility, announced Dec. 28, will be located in Berkel en Rodenrijs, near The Hague. <\/p>\n
Construction is set to be completed by the end of this month. Production is expected to commence during the second quarter of 2022. Satellogic expects the facility to reach production capacity of 25 satellites per quarter by the third quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n
The new facility will have logistics capabilities and storage facilities designed for sensitive optic-mechanical and electronic parts and host office and meeting space for approximately 80 people. Satellogic\u2019s Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, Gustav Wenhold, will lead operations at the new facility.<\/p>\n
\u201cSatellogic has ambitious growth plans that our new high-throughput plant is designed to meet,\u201d said Wenhold. \u201cWith these significant additions to our production capabilities, we\u2019re prepared to continue supporting our customers by delivering high frequency, high-resolution imagery and strategic, timely insights for decision makers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Satellogic is based in Argentina and currently manufactures its satellites in Montevideo, Uruguay. The company plans to continue to operate the Montevideo facility at a capacity of 24 satellites per year. In the future the facility will function as a pilot plant to introduce new technology for the next-generation satellites. <\/p>\n
