Relativity Space<\/b> has hired its first vice president of Software Engineering, bringing on Scott Van Vliet, former Microsoft<\/b> corporate vice president for the role. The company said this is a significant investment in the future of its software-driven manufacturing platform. <\/p>\n
Van Vliet will lead the Integrated Software and Additive Manufacturing teams. He is tasked with expanding Relativity\u2019s Factory Operating System, a platform that integrates data collection, correlation, machine learning, visualization, and workflow tools to enable progress across Relativity\u2019s Stargate printers, production factories, test and launch infrastructure, and rocket development.<\/p>\n
Relativity said that Van Vliet will oversee more than 150 employees today, with plans to double the team in 2022. The company said software is a \u201csignificant and growing\u201d segment of its talent. <\/p>\n
