Dr. Kevin Petty will take on the new role for the company and will oversee Spire\u2019s weather solutions worldwide, leading a team of weather scientists. He will additionally guide Spire\u2019s weather data offerings across the Company\u2019s other solution areas, including maritime, aviation, Earth intelligence, and Space Services.<\/p>\n<p>Petty has an interesting background. He was most recently at <strong>The Weather Company<\/strong>, an <strong>IBM<\/strong> business, where he served as head of science and forecasting and head of public-private partnerships. He was responsible for research and development for weather solutions and forecasting operations, including building a global team of meteorologists across IBM\u2019s Watson Media and Weather organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe will play an integral role in helping Spire provide our customers with even more accurate and valuable weather solutions, enabling them meet the ever-increasing challenges associated with the impact of climate change on their organizations and in their communities,\u201d Peter Platzer, Chief Executive Officer, Spire, said in a statement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spire Global has appointed its first ever Vice President of Weather.
