The company announced Sept. 28 that <strong>Solstad Offshore <\/strong>\u2014 one of the largest offshore support vessel owners in the world with a fleet of around 100 vessels \u2014 has signed a contract to use the service on several of its North Sea vessels.<\/p>\n<p>Inmarsat conducted successful trials on board three Solstad vessels during the first three months of 2021 and was commissioned to install Fleet LTE on the remaining relevant vessels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Fleet LTE combination of bandwidth, reasonable pricing and guaranteed connectivity makes sense in today\u2019s offshore market, which is simultaneously cost driven and hungry to exploit the opportunities created by digitalisation and real time data analytics,\u201d Christian Nesheim, ICT Director, Solstad Offshore said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Inmarsat Fleet LTE delivers hybrid connectivity via 4G cellular connectivity provided by <strong>Tampnet<\/strong> plus satellite coverage on Inmarsat\u2019s Fleet Xpress Ka-band and FleetBroadband L-band services, switching between networks on a fully automated basis.<\/p>\n<p>Following the launch of its Fleet LTE Offshore service for North Sea customers last year, Inmarsat also unveiled plans to develop an equivalent bundled offering to offshore vessels in the Gulf of Mexico, and extended its service agreement with Tampnet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inmarsat has signed a new deal in the maritime area for its new Fleet LTE service.
