The startup company, which is based in Boca Raton, Florida, made the announcement alongside its partner organization <strong>Space Florida<\/strong> and Florida&nbsp;Governor&nbsp;Ron DeSantis, who touted Florida\u2019s \u201cSpace Coast\u201d economic revival plan.<\/p>\n<p>Terran Orbital CEO Marc Bell told <em>Via Satellite<\/em> that the company is paying $300 million for the new facility through a financing conduit provided by Space Florida. \u201cWe expect the facility to open in 36 months,\u201d said Bell, who is also Executive Chairman of <strong>PredaSAR<\/strong> and <strong>Tyvak <b>Nano-Satellite Systems<\/b><\/strong>, both Terran Orbital subsidiaries.<\/p>\n<p>Terran Orbital will build the new structure at Merritt Island\u2019s Launch and Landing Facility (LLF). It will consist of ten automated and augmented hangers and feature a campus-based Artificial Intelligence-controlled supply chain, with 3D printing and additive manufacturing capabilities. The company said the facility will create approximately 2,100 new jobs and allow the company to produce \u201cthousands of different types of space vehicles per year\u201d by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am excited to announce that Terran Orbital will be investing&nbsp;$300 million&nbsp;in the Space Coast to build the largest satellite manufacturing facility in the world,\u201d said Governor DeSantis. \u201cSatellite manufacturing is and will continue to be an important part of the economy in the Space Coast, and with this announcement we are upping the ante. In&nbsp;Florida we are going to continue to take the lead on space by investing in infrastructure, training highly skilled workers and maintaining an economic climate that allows companies like Terran Orbital to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Things have been moving rapidly for Terran Orbital ever since it received a breakthrough investment from a group led by Lockheed Martin and Goldman Sachs in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Just last week, Terran Orbital acquired a 88,930 square-foot facility in Irvine, California to expand its small satellite design, engineering, and development capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Over the summer, a Terran-built small satellite payload built for <strong>EchoStar<\/strong> was launched on SpaceX\u2019s Transporter-2 rideshare mission on June 30.
