The Arabsat board announced the change on Monday, Sept. 6.<\/p>\n<p id=\"text_b7425443907341c29ee1869b8c6d2bd0\" class=\"Block TextBlock -align--left -role--paragraph\">Al-Suwaidan is the former CTO of Arabsat. He has participated in several programs and space missions, including working on the first Saudi Geostationary satellite SGS-1 with Arabsat, and Saudi-Sat4 in cooperation with <strong>NASA<\/strong>. Before joining Arabsat, Al-Suwaidan worked as a director of the <strong>Institute of Research and Space<\/strong> in King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p id=\"text_6f3e52459c2e4b5c84ee427c79c76026\" class=\"Block TextBlock -align--left -role--paragraph\">In addition, Haitham Al-Ohali, vice minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology for Saudi Arabia, has been named chairman of the board.<\/p>\n<p id=\"text_ae4b5c5ba3bd4ae6b8d72c00920e6f00\" class=\"Block TextBlock -align--left -role--paragraph\">Balkheyour became president and CEO of Arabsat in 2003, and received the&nbsp;<em class=\"Annotation -emphasis\">Via Satellite<\/em>&nbsp;Executive of the Year award for 2013.
