Screenshot via SpaceX<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Amazon<\/b> is taking issue with <strong>SpaceX<\/strong>\u2019s plans for the second generation of its Starlink internet constellation. SpaceX has recently proposed two possible configurations for the second generation of its Starlink constellation. Each would add about 30,000 satellites to the constellation, to be deployed by the Starship rocket in development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Representatives from Amazon recently met with the <strong>FCC<\/strong> and detailed that meeting in FCC filings posted on Aug. 26. Amazon takes issue that SpaceX has submitted two configurations, arguing that this is against FCC regulations and therefore the FCC should dismiss the amendment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForcing both the commission and interested parties to grapple with the interference concerns posed by two separate configurations doubles the technical effort of every operator faced with the task of reviewing the interference and orbital debris concerns raised by SpaceX\u2019s amendment,\u201d Amazon argued.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Amazon called this method \u201cinefficient\u201d and said evaluating two configurations will have consequences beyond the SpaceX amendment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Amazon is working on its own Project Kuiper constellation but has not yet launched a satellite. The company is investing at least $10 billion into the project, which is approved to launch more than 3,000 satellites.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos is fighting with the government over SpaceX on multiple fronts. His space company<b> Blue Origin<\/b> is in the midst of a legal battle with <b>NASA <\/b>over the agency awarding the sole contract for the Human Landing System for the Moon to SpaceX.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SpaceX Founder Elon Musk joked about the Amazon protest in a tweet on Thursday: \u201cTurns out Besos [sic] retired in order to pursue a full-time job filing lawsuits against SpaceX,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>60 Starlink satellites are deployed on Feb. 15 SpaceX launch.
