Its proven Spacebus 4000 B2 platform is ideally suited to the regional requirements of telecoms operators. The SES-22 C-band satellite built around this spacecraft bus was successfully launched in June 2022. The same year, SES ordered an innovative, flexible and fully reconfigurable satellite SES-26 based on Thales Alenia Space&#8217;s Space INSPIRE solution. Satellites have also been designed and built around the all-electric Spacebus NEO platform.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.satnow.com\/news\/1745483170726_638810799772600194.png\" class=\"imageload fr-fil fr-dii\" width=\"262\" height=\"262\" >Using&nbsp;electric thrusters increases payload capacity, affording more flexibility for operators. Spacebus NEO is the perfect fit for very high throughput satellites (VHTS), helping bridge the digital divide across the globe. The latest Space INSPIRE product line\u2014an extremely flexible software-defined digital solution that can be reconfigured in orbit\u2014has been selected by numerous telecommunications operators over the last three years.<\/p>\n<p>Thales Alenia Space has always been a go-to partner for constellations. After helping to build nearly 70% of the first Globalstar constellation, we were the prime contractor for three other constellations of communications satellites in medium earth orbit and low Earth orbit, with Globalstar 2, O3b and Iridium\u00ae NEXT.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Space to Observe &amp; Protect<\/u><\/strong> &#8211; <em>Earth observation satellites contributing to monitoring environment and safeguarding our Planet.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thales Alenia Space is the prime contractor for the Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-3 satellite families. It is also responsible for the Sentinel-2 image ground segment, and it contributed to building the imaging spectrometer on Sentinel-5P and the Poseidon-4 radar altimeter on Sentinel-6. In 2020, Thales Alenia Space was awarded five contracts for the six new Copernicus Expansion missions, acting as the prime contractor for the CIMR,&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.satnow.com\/news\/1745483632461_638810804369902530.png\" class=\"imageload fr-fir fr-dii\" width=\"262\" height=\"262\" >ROSE-L, and CHIME satellites, and as the supplier of the CRISTAL and CO2M mission payloads.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1977 and the launch of the first Meteosat satellite, Thales Alenia Space has been at the forefront of geostationary weather satellites in Europe. It serves as the prime contractor for 17 satellites built for ESA and Eumetsat: seven for the first generation, four for the second, and six for Meteosat Third Generation (MTG), which includes four imagers and two atmospheric sounding instruments. Each new generation has represented a significant leap in weather forecasting. Thales Alenia Space is also the prime contractor for the highly innovative Stratobus. This autonomous, multimission stratospheric airship acts as the perfect complement to satellite systems and bridges the gap between drones and satellites.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Space to Secure &amp; Defend<\/u><\/strong> &#8211; <em>Thales Alenia Space provides defense and dual telecommunications as well as Earth observation space capabilities to ensure states&#8217; sovereignty and citizens&#8217; safety.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.satnow.com\/news\/1745483451956_638810802566102968.png\" class=\"imageload fr-fil fr-dii\" width=\"251\" style=\"width: 251px; height: 251px;\" height=\"251\" >Thales Alenia Space has capitalized on its expertise in both observation systems and telecom constellations to address new market segments, especially space surveillance and Earth observation at high revisit rates. Through the LeoStella joint venture in the United States, we are contributing to the BlackSky constellation, which will include 60 optical observation satellites featuring submetric resolution and very high revisit rates. Thales Alenia Space has also signed contracts with the European Space Agency (ESA) to supply a first batch of six satellites with SAR radars and an optical satellite for Italy\u2019s future IRIDE Earth observation constellation.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Space to Explore<\/u><\/strong> &#8211; <em>Exploring the Solar System and understanding the universe<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thales Alenia Space is heavily involved in exploring our solar system and beyond, contributing to missions like BepiColombo (Mercury), Herschel &amp; Planck (observatories), and the European program Euclid (dark matter). They&#8217;ve also been key players in missions like Cassini-Huygens (Saturn and Titan), Rosetta-Philae (comet),&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.satnow.com\/news\/1745484064487_638810808691263689.png\" class=\"imageload fr-fir fr-dii\" width=\"262\" height=\"262\" >and ALMA (radiotelescope). Additionally, they are actively participating in NASA&#8217;s Artemis program, including contributing to the lunar Gateway and Human Landing System.<\/p>\n<p>Thales Alenia Space supports NASA\u2019s Artemis program by contributing to an ecosystem for lunar exploration, including habitat modules like the Multi-Purpose Habitat (MPH) awarded by the Italian space agency (ASI). This strengthens its leadership in crewed space exploration. A leader in orbital infrastructures, Thales Alenia Space provides Lunar Gateway modules, including Lunar View, Lunar Link, Lunar I-HAB for ESA, and HALO for <strong>Northrop Grumman<\/strong>. It is also building two pressurized modules for Axiom Space\u2019s commercial space station, designed with interiors by Philippe Starck.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Space to Travel &amp; Navigate<\/u><\/strong> &#8211; <em>Satellite systems provide the information that makes online maps and navigation apps a reality.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Satellite navigation systems are used at airports to assist pilots during takeoff and landing. They also serve a host of other applications like tracking ships, search &amp; rescue, the Internet of Things (IoT) and agriculture. And&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.satnow.com\/news\/1745484414071_638810812184787352.png\" class=\"imageload fr-fil fr-dii\" width=\"262\" height=\"262\" >they have already helped save many human lives. As a pivotal player in programs like Galileo and EGNOS, Thales Alenia Space has always been a pioneer in satellite navigation systems.<\/p>\n<p>Thales Alenia Space has leveraged its expertise in satellite constellations and navigation to address new markets calling for new navigation and geolocation capabilities, like <strong>Kineis<\/strong>, the first French constellation dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT), and Omnispace, for which the first two nanosatellites, built under Thales Alenia&#8217;s prime contractorship, were successfully launched in 2022. These disruptive technology programs, spearheaded by companies, are being pursued in partnership with small and mid-sized firms and startups.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Sustainability in Space<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thales Alenia Space has been working for a long time on space debris prevention. In France, its experts have cooperated with <strong>CNES Space Agency<\/strong>, <strong>NASA<\/strong>, and other partners on the definition of the French Debris Mitigation Law, which is considered a precursor on the international scene.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.satnow.com\/news\/1745484759778_638810815647374216.png\" width=\"612\" height=\"318\" class=\"imageload removeImageattr\" ><\/p>\n<p>Thales Alenia Space actively contributes to the debate and definition of common and international requirements on Space Traffic Coordination and Management at both the European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) and the international ISO level.
