{"id":57001,"date":"2021-08-03T01:43:34","date_gmt":"2021-08-02T17:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/spacelink-wins-iss-space-communications-relay-demo-contract\/"},"modified":"2021-08-03T01:43:34","modified_gmt":"2021-08-02T17:43:34","slug":"spacelink-wins-iss-space-communications-relay-demo-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/spacelink-wins-iss-space-communications-relay-demo-contract\/","title":{"rendered":"SpaceLink Wins ISS Space Communications Relay Demo Contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p><strong>SpaceLink<\/strong> will demonstrate its space-to-ground, end-to-end communications relay service for the <strong>Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS)<\/strong> under a new research contract awarded to the company on July 28.<\/p>\n<p>CASIS, the manager of the<strong> International Space Station U.S. National Laboratory<\/strong>, selected SpaceLink during a competitive bid process during which companies proposed communications relay technology concepts capable of being utilized in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO).<\/p>\n<p>SpaceLink said its relay network is designed to pick up where <strong>NASA<\/strong>\u2018s Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) leaves off and go beyond with capacity that leverages optical technology. During its demonstration for CASIS, SpaceLink will attempt to validate the use of a 10 gigabit per second optical terminal, for real-time voice, video, and data exchange between ISS crew, onboard systems, experiments, and terrestrial users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur demonstration on the ISS is the first step to proving SpaceLink\u2019s capabilities to advance space science and the emerging space economy,\u201d said SpaceLink CEO David Bettinger. \u201cFunding from CASIS marks an important milestone in SpaceLink\u2019s roadmap to providing massive bandwidth for organizations that need real-time connectivity between space and the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Financial details of the award were not disclosed.
