The company signed multi-year capacity agreements in backlog with multiple public broadcasters in Europe throughout 2020, which will enable millions of satellite TV households across Europe to continue watching SD and HD content. The public broadcasters who have signed contracts directly with SES include <strong>ARD<\/strong> and <strong>ZDF<\/strong> in Germany, <strong>BBC<\/strong> in the United Kingdom, <strong>BVN<\/strong> in the Netherlands, as well as <strong>TV5Monde<\/strong> and <strong>France 24<\/strong> from France via its partner <strong>Globecast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSatellite is an invaluable distribution resource today and it will remain so in the future, providing broadcasters with the largest reach, unmatched reliability, bandwidth efficiency and the ability to deliver superior content quality to millions of TV households in Europe,\u201d said Steve Collar, CEO of SES.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, <strong>SE<\/strong><strong>S<\/strong><strong> Government Solutions<\/strong> (SES GS), announced it has designed and developed and is fielding an O3b Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) loopback capability, in close partnership with a U.S. government customer, to provide improved mission-critical communications for <strong>U.S. Department of Defense<\/strong> (DoD) operations in remote locations in Southwest Asia. The awarded task order is against the single-award Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with the U.S. DoD for MEO low-latency High Throughput Satellite (HTS) services.<\/p>\n<p>The configuration leverages an in-theater hub and provides in-beam connectivity, similarly to a hub-spoke configuration, and is managed and controlled from an SES Network Operations Center (NOC) via a Skala Network terminal.
