Momentus<\/b>\u2018 founding CEO Mikhail Kokorich has resigned amid the company\u2019s efforts to go public, due to regulatory concerns with his status as a Russian citizen. The company announced Jan. 25 that Kokorich has resigned, and Dawn Harms has been named interim CEO. <\/p>\n
Momentus is in the midst of regulatory reviews for a merger with special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Stable Road Acquisition Corp<\/b>., through which it will become a publicly traded company. The company said in the Jan. 25 release that along with Stable Road, it determined Kokorich\u2019s resignation was in the company\u2019s best interest to \u201cexpedite the resolution of U.S. government national security and foreign ownership concerns surrounding the company.\u201d <\/p>\n
Kokorich is a Russian citizen, and therefore Momentus is considered a \u201cforeign person\u201d under the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), according to the company\u2019s S-4 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission<\/b> (SEC). Because of export regulations, Kokorich was not permitted to access the company\u2019s controlled technology or hardware, according to the filing.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe that this leadership transition will position the company for success and help accelerate regulatory reviews by the U.S. government,\u201d Brian Kabot, chairman and CEO of Stable Road said in a statement. \u201cMomentus has a deep and experienced executive team, as well as innovative technology. We have full confidence in Dawn and the team to lead the company to reach both near-term targets and achieve even greater success over the longer-term.\u201d<\/p>\n
Momentus is working to build space infrastructure solutions. The company\u2019s first orbital transfer vehicle, Vigoride, was set for its demonstration mission on the recent SpaceX<\/b> Transporter-1 rideshare mission, but it was pushed back to allow for more time for Federal Aviation Administration<\/b> (FAA) approval. The company said in January that the mission will be manifested to a subsequent SpaceX launch in 2021.<\/p>\n
Harms is an industry veteran has worked for Momentus since 2019 as chief revenue officer, and previously held executive positions at Boeing Satellite Systems International<\/b>, Space Systems Loral<\/b> (now Maxar<\/b>), International Launch Services<\/b> (ILS), and others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
