According to the company, Choi wishes to pursue \u201cother interests and opportunities,\u201d but will remain a significant investor in the business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI announce that the time of my servitude as CEO of ABS has come to an end,\u201d Choi said in a post on LinkedIn. \u201cIt\u2019s time for me to move on to other interesting projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Winner of <em>Via Satellite\u2019s<\/em> 2012 Satellite Executive of the Year award, Choi garnered a reputation for his outspoken personality and controversial opinions. Most recently, he lambasted <strong>Intelsat<\/strong> and <strong>Intel\u2019s<\/strong> joint proposal to share C-band spectrum with mobile operators as \u201csimply ludicrous and ridiculous.\u201d Choi has also pushed back against the trend toward Low Earth Orbit (LEO) megaconstellations, describing global networks as \u201cthrowing away \u2026 capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Current ABS chairman Jim Frownfelter will step as interim CEO as the company commences a search for Choi\u2019s replacement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) officially announced on Oct. 30 that Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thomas Choi is transitioning his role to a board director.
