{"id":67793,"date":"2017-07-07T22:10:33","date_gmt":"2017-07-07T14:10:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/rezatec-analyzes-satellite-data-to-map-tree-species-and-disease\/"},"modified":"2017-07-07T22:10:33","modified_gmt":"2017-07-07T14:10:33","slug":"rezatec-analyzes-satellite-data-to-map-tree-species-and-disease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/rezatec-analyzes-satellite-data-to-map-tree-species-and-disease\/","title":{"rendered":"Rezatec Analyzes Satellite Data to Map Tree Species and Disease"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rezatec<\/strong> is working with the <strong>UK Department for Environment, Food &amp; Rural Affairs<\/strong> (DEFRA) and <strong>UK Space Agency<\/strong> to establish how common threats to forests can be detected and addressed to mitigate risk to valuable tree stock.<\/p>\n<p>Through the Space Applications for Precision Plant Health Information, Response &amp; Evaluation project, funded by the UK Space Agency\u2019s Space for Smarter Government Program (SSGP), DEFRA\u2019s Plant Health team used Rezatec\u2019s geospatial forestry intelligence products to generate an understanding of how Earth Observation (EO) technology can be used to address the challenges posed by tree pests and diseases.<\/p>\n<p>Rezatec is also working closely with<strong> Forestry Corporation New South Wales<\/strong> (FCNSW) in Australia to enrich its existing forestry datasets with derived tree type mapping to help the organization understand its forested land assets and support strategic decision making.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForestry Corporation NSW manages 2.2 million hectares of state forest across New South Wales. Remotely sensed data is an important forest management tool and combining this with accurately located plot information provides an opportunity to add value to this data. Given the complexity of eucalypt forests this is a difficult task.
