OneWeb intends to orbit a constellation of 648 small satellites to provide broadband for rural and underdeveloped locations across the globe.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this summer the company secured $500 million in a round of funding and announced partnerships with <b>Airbus Group<\/b>, <b>Intelsat<\/b>, <b>Hughes Network Systems<\/b>, <b>Bharti Enterprises<\/b>, <b>Virgin Group<\/b>, <b>Qualcomm<\/b>, <b>Totalplay, <\/b>and <b>Coca Cola<\/b>, along with launch agreements with <b>Virgin Galactic <\/b>and <b>Arianespace<\/b>. OneWeb has plans to have full series production of its constellation at a dedicated plant in the U.S. through a joint venture with <b>Airbus Defence and Space<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur mission, to enable affordable access, requires a global and open dialogue between industry, governments and business on the importance of broadband for education, industrial and civic growth,\u201d said Greg Wyler, CEO and founder of OneWeb. \u201cSIA is an important and open forum to support the use of and help determine the role of satellites in this mission.
