The Army initiated the contract by exercising Option Year 1 of the company\u2019s three-year BFT-1 sustainment contract and related BFT-1 intellectual property license agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The BFT-1 program provides a battle command real-time situational awareness and control system. A total of $10 million of the $19.8 million is for the Army\u2019s continued license of BFT-1 intellectual property. The remaining funding covers engineering services and satellite network operations. Comtech is paid on a cost-plus-fixed-price basis.
