The very high-resolution system runs at a frame rate of 120 frames per second (fps) \u2014 nearly double that of current 4K Ultra-HD technology \u2014and has 16 times the resolution of HD, using 7680 x 4320 pixels. NHK\u2019s 8K system also improves sound quality with 22.2 channel audio. The demonstration is planned for IBC 2014 in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n<p>NHK reports that the 8K system is almost ready for practical implementation, and has proposed a satellite broadcasting test in 2016. The broadcaster intends to launch public services in Japan in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrative screenings at IBC2014 will show scenes from the FIFA World Cup, as well as recordings from the National Palace Museum in Taiwan.
