Along with the modulators, Thaicom installed Newtec\u2019s Automated Equalink technology, which provides space capacity savings by allowing broadcasters to gain up to 10 percent greater throughput without changing system parameters or Set-Top Boxes (STBs), enabling some Standard Definition (SD) programs to upgrade to High Definition (HD) or to add content.<\/p>\n<p>Included in Newtec\u2019s modulators is the company\u2019s Clean Channel technology, which combines improved roll-offs for Second Generation Digital Video Broadcasting \u2013 Satellite (DVB S2) standards and advanced filtering technologies, which offer higher efficiencies and an improvement in performance of around 1.2 dB.<\/p>\n<p>The extension to the DVB S2 standard, the DVB S2X, is also now implemented in the latest Newtec products and is available as a software upgrade.
