{"id":78254,"date":"2014-03-07T23:01:40","date_gmt":"2014-03-07T15:01:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/cpi-to-introduce-new-lifeextender-technology\/"},"modified":"2014-03-07T23:01:40","modified_gmt":"2014-03-07T15:01:40","slug":"cpi-to-introduce-new-lifeextender-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/cpi-to-introduce-new-lifeextender-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"CPI to Introduce New LifeExtender Technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p>[Via Satellite 03-07-2014] The satcom products group of <b>Communications and Power Industries (CPI)<\/b> is introducing its LifeExtender technology, which is expected to extend traveling wave tube (TWT) cathode life and is currently available in CPI\u2019s TouchPower series of traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs) and several Ka-band outdoor TWTAs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlternative methods of TWT life extension are limited by the fact that they do not optimize the rate of barium evaporation over time,\u201d said John Lazar, director of product development at CPI\u2019s Satcom Division. \u201cCPI\u2019s technology improves upon alternative methods by adjusting the heater voltage over time, resulting in up to 50 percent longer life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LifePredictor, a companion technology to LifeExtender, is also available. LifePredictor monitors the evolution of the knee of the cathode emission curve over time.
