[Via Satellite 08-19-13] NewSat Limited <\/b>has appointed Don Brown as senior vice president of strategic planning. The executive move follows the company\u2019s plans to transition from a teleport operator into a global satellite operator. In this new position, Brown will be \u201ca driving force for NewSat\u2019s future direction and transformation into a global satellite operator,\u201d said NewSat Founder and CEO, Adrian Ballintine.<\/p>\n
Brown has more than 20 years of experience in satellite communications, with expertise in government solutions and defense systems. He began his satellite career in the satellite systems division of Federal Express Corporation<\/b>, subsequently working for American Mobile Satellite Corporation<\/b> and Quincy Jones\u2019 Qradio<\/b>, before serving as vice president of DoD systems at PanAmSat\u2019s G2 Satellite Solutions<\/b>.<\/p>\n
More recently, Brown was the vice president of hosted payloads and business development for Intelsat General Corporation<\/b>. At Intelsat General, he led the team that won the $350 million UHF hosted payload contract with the Australian Defence Force, as well as the IP Router in Space (IRIS) hosted payload contract with Cisco. Brown is co-founder of the Hosted Payload Alliance<\/b>.<\/p>\n
