Lowther became president and CEO of IDC May 13 and was appointed to the board on May 17.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cWe view Doug\u2019s appointment to the board as a major step in the development of IDC as a technology provider to broadcasters,\u201d said Del Lippert, chairman of the board at IDC in a statement.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Lowther most recently served as executive vice-president at <b>Irdeto<\/b>, a global supplier of digital TV technology and services. He started with Irdeto as vice president of marketing in 2004 where he led the creation of a product portfolio that achieved substantial revenue growth. More recently, Lowther was responsible for Irdeto\u2019s business with pay-TV operators worldwide.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Previous positions include several executive roles with <b>Nortel Networks<\/b>, where he was vice president and general manager of wireless applications and the vice president of strategic marketing.
