The team claims its findings can increase accuracy by as much as 90 percent and that the system would work for cars and smartphones. <\/p>\n<p>The team of researchers from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) claims their systems is able to improve GPS precision by as much as 90 percent, combining readings from a number of different sensors to reduce the margin of error, regardless of location, population, building density or even interference from tunnels. <\/p>\n<p>Tests have been successful at the UC3M\u2019s intelligent car and researchers are now planning to develop the system to work with smartphones\u2019 built-in sensors, with little cost to the manufacturers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tags: GPS, Satellite Positioning, Spain Publication Date: 02\/13\/2013 Image credit: Flickr user NCReedplayer Researchers in Spain have developed a new system capable of increasing conventional GPS devices\u2019 accuracy.
