Two further SBAS are in development.<\/i><br \/>\nImage credit: ESA\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>More than 50 experts that oversee the world\u2019s regional satnav augmentation systems met in Toulouse, France, last week for the Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) Interoperability Working Group (IWG). The meeting welcomed, for the first time, Russian and Indian representatives. <\/p>\n<p>As satnav augmentation becomes widely used in aircraft around the globe, more regional systems are being developed for future certification by the <strong>International Civil Aviation Authority<\/strong>. This is the case for Russia\u2019s System of Differential Correction and Monitoring (SDCM), lead by <strong>Roscosmos<\/strong>; and India\u2019s GPS and Geo-Augmented Navigation (GAGAN) system, developed by the Indian Civil Aviation and the country\u2019s space agency, <strong>ISRO<\/strong>. This was the first IWG that counted with these countries\u2019 participation. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Eurocontrol<\/strong>, the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation, was also present at this IWG, jointly hosted by <strong>ESA<\/strong>\u2019s European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS) and SBAS Division, and the French space agency, <strong>CNES<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tags: European Space Agency, Satellite Navigation, Roscosmos, SBAS, ISRO Publication Date: 01\/28\/2013 Current coverage offered by the three operational Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) worldwide, with certified aircraft guidance services shown in green.
