Without this event, third quarter net income would have reflected an eight percent decline from third quarter 2011 at $295 million.&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tOther factors contributing to the net income decline include higher programming costs leading to higher subscriber-related expenses as well as a 12.7 percent increase in gross subscriber additions, increasing subscriber acquisition costs.<br \/>\n\tDish Network ended the quarter with approximately 14.042 million subscribers, a 19,000 net subscriber decrease for the third quarter, compared to last year\u2019s net subscriber loss of about 111,000.
