{"id":82357,"date":"2012-10-08T17:08:14","date_gmt":"2012-10-08T09:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/inmarsat-lands-two-major-global-xpress-partnerships-with-cisco-honeywell\/"},"modified":"2012-10-08T17:08:14","modified_gmt":"2012-10-08T09:08:14","slug":"inmarsat-lands-two-major-global-xpress-partnerships-with-cisco-honeywell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/inmarsat-lands-two-major-global-xpress-partnerships-with-cisco-honeywell\/","title":{"rendered":"Inmarsat Lands Two Major Global XPress Partnerships with Cisco, Honeywell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Satellite TODAY Insider 10-08-12] MSS operator <strong>Inmarsat <\/strong>has secured two significant partnership agreements to advance its business strategy for the Global Xpress (GX) high-throughput Ka-band satellite broadband network \u2013 a long-term service delivery alliance with <strong>Cisco<\/strong> and a master distribution agreement (MDA) with <strong>Honeywell <\/strong>for GX Aviation services, Inmarsat announced Oct. 8.<\/p>\n<p>\tInmarsat\u2019s alliance with Cisco will allow the mobile operator to deliver advanced services and applications over the GX network when the service is launched in 2014 and introduced for business aviation customers in the first quarter of 2015.<br \/>\n\tInmarsat and Cisco said the partnership would create a new ecosystem for satellite applications, with Cisco providing a satellite applications service delivery platform and a high performance access network for the GX program. Cisco also will develop a router for satellite network end-users that will utilize both Inmarsat GX capabilities and also the operator\u2019s current BGAN global network.<br \/>\n\t\u201cThese agreements will allow Cisco and Inmarsat to create new value propositions for our customers,\u201d Imarsat CEO Rupert Pearce said in a statement. \u201cInmarsat will benefit tremendously from Cisco technology and distribution reach and Cisco will be able to provide connectivity for its services and products anytime, anywhere. We are going to foster a new satellite applications development environment that should provide great opportunities for our distributors, our customers and our companies.\u201d<br \/>\n\tCisco President of Development and Sales Rob Lloyd said his company would build and operate the network on a fully managed basis before transferring it to Inmarsat, and that Inmarsat would become a Global Partner for Cisco in bringing their combined service capabilities to Inmarsat\u2019s value added resellers around the globe.<br \/>\n\t\u201cImagine watching on demand TV in an aircraft, using TelePresence on an oil rig in the middle of the ocean, or accessing cost effective HD TV broadcasting from any location.
