{"id":83194,"date":"2012-04-28T01:37:43","date_gmt":"2012-04-27T17:37:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/analyst-saudi-ka-band-deal-an-important-infrastructure-endorsement-for-viasat\/"},"modified":"2012-04-28T01:37:43","modified_gmt":"2012-04-27T17:37:43","slug":"analyst-saudi-ka-band-deal-an-important-infrastructure-endorsement-for-viasat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/analyst-saudi-ka-band-deal-an-important-infrastructure-endorsement-for-viasat\/","title":{"rendered":"Analyst: Saudi Ka-band Deal an \u2018Important Infrastructure Endorsement\u2019 for ViaSat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[04-27-12] <b>ViaSat\u2019s<\/b> $70 million contract with the <b>King Abdul-aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) <\/b>organization in Saudi Arabia, announced April 25, represents a potential boost to ViaSat\u2019s Commercial Networks business segment and an important endorsement in ViaSat\u2019s battle to win upcoming infrastructure contracts, <b>Raymond James<\/b> Analyst Chris Quilty said in an April 26 research note.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;The contract includes the procurement of ViaSat gateways, hubs, network operation facilities, maintenance and support fees, and an undisclosed number of end-user terminals.<br \/>\nQuilty told <i>Satellite TODAY Insider<\/i> that while the contract would most likely provide minimal profitability for ViaSat and not cause its estimates to be raised for the company\u2019s long-term position, he believes the deal could provide some near-term upside to the company\u2019s Commercial Networks business segment.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp;\u201cWe are currently forecasting 17 percent year-over-year growth for ViaSat Commercial Networks to $247 million for the full year of 2013. Furthermore, higher production volumes could aide segment operating performance, which has generated a loss for seven consecutive quarters,\u201d said Quilty.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp;The Saudi broadband services supported by the contract will be hosted over the Arabsat-5C satellite. The high-power satellite, owned by Riyadh-based <b>Arabsat<\/b> and built in a collaborative project between <b>Astrium<\/b> and <b>Thales<\/b>, was launched in September 2011.
