The order also includes equipment racks, spares to support the fielding of the terminals and operator training. The next-generation terminals aim to provide a global backbone for high-priority U.S. military communications and missile defense systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cThese terminals provide critical reach-back capability for soldiers in the field who must access resources not available at their remote locations,\u201d Harris Government Systems Group President Sheldon Fox said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&nbsp;&nbsp; Harris is the prime contractor for the MET contract with a five-year base period and a five-year option period. The MET contract is valued at approximately $600 million, including the base and option periods.
