Build with rugged automotive-grade components, the OBC core features a double or even quadruple redundant architecture, making it a reliable alternative to more expensive radiation-hardened hardware. It has up to 4 cores that can be configured to work as independent onboard computers for load balancing or combined into redundant units for reliability.

Each core of the OBC features an AVR32 Microcontroller and has SPI flash memory of up to 1 Gbit. It has a 4Mbit FRAM, 256Mbit SDRAM, and a 4 GB configurable eMMC non-volatile memory. The OBC supports CAN and RS-422 interfaces and comes with several 12-bit ADC and GPIOs lines.

The board comes with a software bundle that includes a real-time operating system and tools to manage the board configuration, transfer data, and software applications, and collect and transmit telemetry. A Python onboard control procedure engine enables satellite operators to upload scripts that increase the operational autonomy of the satellite.

Click here to learn about Satellite On-Board Computers from various manufacturers listed on SATNow.

D-Orbit one of the market leaders in space logistics and transportation, with a track record of space-proven technologies and successful missions has introduced a general-purpose onboard computer for microsatellites.
