Corp<\/b>., a development subsidiary that designs systems and services for advanced communications solutions, announced Aug. 22 that it received a $7.1 million order for Ka-Band power amplifiers from an unnamed U.S. government prime contractor through its California-based subsidiary, <b>Comtech Xicom Technology<\/b>.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp;Comtech Xicom will supply the customer with an array of hardware, including high-power, tube-based and solid-state power amplifiers that incorporate power levels from 8 watts to 3 kilowatts. The amplifiers\u2019 frequency coverage in sub-bands within the 2 GHz to 45 GHz spectrum are commonly utilized in military and commercial satellite uplink applications.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp;Comtech\u2019s Ka-band antenna-mount amplifiers will be used in transportable <b>U.S. Air Force<\/b> satellite terminals to expand an existing Air Force military satellite communications network, Comtech CEO Fred Kornberg said in a statement.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp;Separately, Comtech\u2019s Arizona-based subsidiary <b>Comtech EF Data<\/b> announced Aug. 23 that it was awarded a $2.8 million order for satellite Earth station equipment from an unnamed systems integrator to support a Comtech EF Data Vipersat-powered network in Latin America.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp;The order included the supply of CDM-570L-IP satellite modems, the CDD-564L IP demodulators, the Vipersat management system and RF products including LPOD block up-converters and HPOD high-power amplifiers.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp;The Vipersat-powered network aims to integrate Comtech EF Data modems with the Vipersat management system, which provides dynamic single-carrier-per-channel (dSCPC) bandwidth management of the space segment.
