{"id":85482,"date":"2011-01-27T01:02:58","date_gmt":"2011-01-26T17:02:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/u-s-government-eases-export-restrictions-on-indian-space-agencies-businesses\/"},"modified":"2011-01-27T01:02:58","modified_gmt":"2011-01-26T17:02:58","slug":"u-s-government-eases-export-restrictions-on-indian-space-agencies-businesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/u-s-government-eases-export-restrictions-on-indian-space-agencies-businesses\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Government Eases Export Restrictions on Indian Space Agencies, Businesses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[01-26-11] The Obama Administration has eased export restrictions on Indian space agencies and divisions, including the <strong>Indian Space Research Organization <\/strong>(ISRO) and the <strong>Indian Defense Research and Development Organization<\/strong> (DRDO), U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke announced in a federal notification issued Jan. 25.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The removal of the Indian space agency divisions eliminates extra license requirements for the entities under U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and results in the removed companies falling under general export licensing processes.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cToday\u2019s action marks a significant milestone in reinforcing the U.S.-India strategic partnership and moving forward with export control reforms that will facilitate high technology trade and cooperation,\u201d Locke said in the notification.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The entities removed from the list include: <strong>Bharat Dynamics<\/strong>; four divisions of the DRDO; <strong>India\u2019s Armament Research and Development Establishment<\/strong>; India\u2019s <strong>Defense Research and Development Lab<\/strong>; the <strong>Indian Missile Research and Development Complex<\/strong>; <strong>Solid State Physics Laboratory<\/strong>; four ISRO subordinates; the <strong>Sriharikota Space Center<\/strong>; and the <strong>Vikram Sarabhai Space Center<\/strong>.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; An industry official who asked not to be named told Satellite TODAY Insider that this was one of the main objectives of a recent U.S. trade delegation led by secretary Locke to New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. \u201cThis is a big step forward, and is the result of continuous negotiations between President Obama and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
