{"id":85916,"date":"2010-11-01T22:10:01","date_gmt":"2010-11-01T14:10:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/eutelsat-loses-w3b-due-to-satellite-propulsion-anomaly\/"},"modified":"2010-11-01T22:10:01","modified_gmt":"2010-11-01T14:10:01","slug":"eutelsat-loses-w3b-due-to-satellite-propulsion-anomaly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/eutelsat-loses-w3b-due-to-satellite-propulsion-anomaly\/","title":{"rendered":"Eutelsat Loses W3B Due to Satellite Propulsion Anomaly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[10-30-10] <strong>Eutelsat Communications<\/strong> has lost the W3B satellite due to a satellite propulsion subsystem anomaly that occurred after its launch on an Ariane 5 rocket, the operator announced Oct. 29.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The satellite, built by <strong>Thales Alenia Space<\/strong>, was scheduled to be co-positioned with Eutelsat\u2019s W3A satellite at 7 degrees East to increase Ku-band coverage over Europe, North Africa and the Middle East as well as sub-Saharan African and the Indian Ocean islands by 50 percent.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Eutelsat\u2019s three satellites at that location now will remain in full service until the arrival of W3C, which is scheduled to launch in mid-2011. To compensate for the W3B loss, Eutelsat said it will initiate a new program, called W3D, for a planned launch in the first quarter of 2013.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8220;The loss of W3B is a disappointment for Eutelsat and for our customers.
