[10-25-10] Witbe<\/strong>, a video monitoring solutions provider, is hoping to make an impact in the 3-D TV arena with the launch of a new stereoscopic 3-D TV solution this quarter, Witbe Director General Marie-V\u00e9ronique Lacaze told Satellite TODAY Insider<\/em>.
\n    Lacaze said Witbe is targeting 3-D TV service providers for the solution and expects commercial deployments soon. \u201cSeveral of our existing HD monitoring customers are already testing this 3-D solution. We are expecting first deployments by the end of the year.\u201d
\n    The Witbe 3-D TV monitoring system aims to offer TV service providers and broadcasters a solution for quality assurance and thereby protecting revenue streams. The solution uses active robots that interact with any kind of 3-D services \u2013 on-demand or live content, including the set-top box.
\n    Lacaze is optimistic that the monitoring solution will find a niche in the TV market. \u201cIt\u2019s a new solution to monitor the quality of 3-D video. 3-D video has been deployed for several months, and is referred to as a premium service, but so far, no real solution was available to monitor the quality of the service delivered to end-users. This solution is different from others because it\u2019s the only solution running without reference signal, ready for use on live content or on demand content monitoring.\u201d
\n    Witbe developed this solution working jointly with Cisco, Nagra, Numericable<\/strong>, Panasonic<\/strong> and Sagem<\/strong> as part of the 3-D-HD Alliance group.
\n    Lacaze said the company expects to increase its revenues by around 50 percent for the 12 months to the end of June next year.
\n    \u201cQuality 3-D content is an absolute necessity, and all the providers have to control the quality, because the customers won\u2018t pay a lot of money for bad premium services. This is where we can help them to have an objective measurement of the delivered service.\u201d<\/p>\n
