[10-21-10] Satellite IP services provider Central European Telecom Services <\/strong>(CETel) wants to make more of an impact in the Middle East broadband market through a network expansion deal signed with Nynex Network Solutions <\/strong>earlier this week, CETel Managing Director Guido Neurmann told Satellite TODAY Insider.
\n    The deal will see Nynex help expand CETel\u2019s satellite IP network and introduce new broadband services on the NSS-12 satellite. The network is built on iDirect<\/strong>\u2019s Evolution platform and leverages the iDX 2.1 operating system. To support the partnership, Nynex has installed an iDirect 5IF Hub in CETel\u2019s teleport facilities in Bonn, Germany.
\n    \u201cThe partnership with Nynex is a significant deal for CETel, as it is a great combination of excellent teleport and satellite service with strong iDirect knowledge,\u201d said Neurmann. \u201cThe main target markets will be telecoms, military institutions as well as maritime solutions requiring strong Ku-band coverage over the Middle East. Within the first year, we hope to expand our customer base in the Middle East and further expand in the African market as well. We are also expecting to increase the satellite capacity for those iDirect services and enlarge it on further satellites via Ku- and C-band. In partnership with Nynex, CETel can offer intelligent, flexible and advanced solutions based on iDirect technology.\u201d
\n    CETel, which manages more than 30 antennas and service networks on 20 different satellites, wants to offer a complete solution, including hub hosting, satellite capacity, uplink and downlink services, and broadband IP connectivity to customers in Africa and the Middle East. Nynex previously rolled out Evolution networks in the Middle East and Africa and recorded bandwidth efficiency gains through iDirect\u2019s implementation of DVB-S2, adaptive coding and modulation and 2-D 16-State inbound coding.
\n    CETel expects to increase its revenues and customer base in 2010 following a capital expenditure program designed to boost its teleport facilities near Cologne and Bonn. \u201cThis doubled the size of our facilities and gave us about 30 antennas and more technical space. To stay up to date and offer our customers optimized and advanced solutions we are always willing to invest and go for new solutions in the fast moving market,\u201d Neurmann said.<\/p>\n
