{"id":86229,"date":"2010-09-13T22:44:55","date_gmt":"2010-09-13T14:44:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/eumetsat-awards-metop-c-launch-to-arianespace\/"},"modified":"2010-09-13T22:44:55","modified_gmt":"2010-09-13T14:44:55","slug":"eumetsat-awards-metop-c-launch-to-arianespace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/eumetsat-awards-metop-c-launch-to-arianespace\/","title":{"rendered":"Eumetsat Awards Metop-C Launch to Arianespace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[09-13-10] <strong>The European meteorological satellite organization <\/strong>(Eumetsat) has selected <strong>Arianespace<\/strong> to launch its new Metop-C satellite into polar orbit on a Soyuz launch vehicle during the last quarter of 2016, Arianespace announced Sept. 10.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Meteorological Operational Polar Satellite program, a joint effort of Eumetsat, the <strong>European Space Agency<\/strong>, the <strong>French Space Agency <\/strong>(CNES) and the<strong> U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration<\/strong>, comprises three satellites that are designed to provide a continuous stream of constantly calibrated meteorological data. <br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Metop-C, built by <strong>Astrium<\/strong>, will be fitted with a dozen instruments designed to take atmospheric measurements at different altitudes, and to map temperatures and wind fields on the ocean surface.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Metop-C is the third in the series and the 13th Eumetsat satellite Arianespace will launch. Metop-A was launched in October 2006 by <strong>Starsem<\/strong>, a subsidiary of Arianespace, using a Soyuz rocket at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
