{"id":86534,"date":"2010-08-04T22:57:41","date_gmt":"2010-08-04T14:57:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/ico-loses-judicial-review-against-ofcom-may-lose-spectrum-assignments\/"},"modified":"2010-08-04T22:57:41","modified_gmt":"2010-08-04T14:57:41","slug":"ico-loses-judicial-review-against-ofcom-may-lose-spectrum-assignments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/ico-loses-judicial-review-against-ofcom-may-lose-spectrum-assignments\/","title":{"rendered":"ICO Loses Judicial Review Against Ofcom; May Lose Spectrum Assignments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[08-04-10] <strong>ICO Global Communications<\/strong> has lost its judicial review action against the <strong>U.K. Office of Communications<\/strong> regulator <strong>Ofcom<\/strong>, which the company filed in 2009 after&nbsp; Ofcom announced its intent to request that the ITU remove ICO\u2019s global medium-Earth orbit satellite system from the Master International Frequency Register.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The court ruling allows Ofcom to move forward with its request. <br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; While the decision is not binding with the <strong>International Telecommunication Union<\/strong> (ITU), the outcome may increase the likelihood that the ITU will follow through with initial proceedings to cancel ICO\u2019s MIFR assignments, which it threatened to do in February 2009.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; ICO has had several recent regulatory battles with Ofcom. In June 2009, Ofcom notified ICO that the satellite operator has to show progress toward the launch of its ICO-P mobile satellite system by the end of that month or face loss of its spectrum assignment.
