The partnership will use Apex\u2019s Factory X model to transfer spacecraft-platform technology and high-rate manufacturing expertise to an Elveo-controlled production operation.<\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement, Apex will supply productized spacecraft platforms and assist Elveo in establishing the manufacturing processes needed to build its fleet. Elveo plans to use the initial U.S. facility as a blueprint for additional factories in Europe and Asia developed with regional partners.<\/p>\n<p>The arrangement differs from a conventional bulk satellite purchase. Rather than producing the entire constellation at Apex\u2019s existing factory, the companies intend to create dedicated production capacity that gives Elveo greater control over satellite design, costs, schedules and supply chains.<\/p>\n<p>Neither company disclosed the partnership\u2019s value, the location or planned capacity of the first Elveo facility, or when satellite production will begin. They also did not identify the Apex platform that will underpin the spacecraft or provide details on satellite mass, launch contracts or the constellation\u2019s deployment sequence.<\/p>\n<p>Elveo was formed through the merger of Lynk Global and Omnispace, which closed August 14. The combined company brings together Lynk\u2019s direct-to-phone satellite architecture and mobile-network relationships with Omnispace\u2019s licensed spectrum portfolio and non-terrestrial-network development work.<\/p>\n<p>Elveo has previously outlined a target of deploying 320 LEO satellites to support persistent global service, with initial commercial operations planned for early 2028. Achieving that schedule will require the company to move quickly from spacecraft design and factory commissioning into qualification, serial integration, environmental testing and launch deployment.<\/p>\n<h2>Factory Model Targets Constellation-Scale Production<\/h2>\n<p>Apex\u2019s Factory X concept is designed to replicate the manufacturing system used at its Factory One facility in Los Angeles. Factory One covers more than 130,000 square feet and has a stated peak capacity exceeding 200 satellite buses annually.<\/p>\n<p>The facility combines subassembly production, spacecraft integration, environmental testing and mission services. Apex\u2019s proprietary Octopus operating system connects inventory management, production scheduling and digital assembly instructions, allowing manufacturing plans to be adjusted as demand and hardware configurations change.<\/p>\n<p>Applying that system to a customer-specific factory could reduce dependence on the production queue of an established satellite prime. It could also give Elveo tighter oversight of configuration control and supply-chain planning across a fleet that must be manufactured in large numbers while maintaining consistent performance.<\/p>\n<p>The approach still leaves substantial execution work. Elveo and Apex will need to finalize the spacecraft configuration, qualify production tooling and suppliers, demonstrate repeatable integration and testing, and maintain quality as output increases. Expanding the model internationally would add further requirements related to technology transfer, export controls, regional sourcing and regulatory compliance.<\/p>\n<h2>Satellite Payload Designed for 3GPP Networks<\/h2>\n<p>Elveo said its satellites will use patented technology compliant with 3GPP non-terrestrial-network standards. The payloads are expected to incorporate onboard processing and networking capabilities that allow the system to adapt services and capacity as mobile-network-operator requirements evolve.<\/p>\n<p>The network is intended to connect smartphones, Internet of Things equipment and other mobile devices through participating terrestrial operators. Elveo said after the merger that it had commercial agreements with more than 50 mobile-network operators and distribution partners serving more than 60 countries.<\/p>\n<p>That operator-led model is central to direct-to-device systems, which use satellites to extend terrestrial mobile coverage into remote areas, maritime regions and disaster zones without requiring conventional satellite terminals.
