The commitment represents a substantial investment in a software-focused space contractor and reinforces the service\u2019s effort to use digital engineering to design, compare and validate complex mission architectures before deploying hardware in orbit.<\/p>\n<p>The platform is intended to give engineers and mission planners a common software environment for examining systems that are developed independently but must operate as part of an integrated architecture. Instead of assessing individual spacecraft or payloads in isolation, users can model how changes to one component affect other elements of a mission.<\/p>\n<p>That capability is increasingly important as Space Force architectures incorporate larger numbers of satellites, distributed sensors, ground systems and communications links. Modeling these elements together can expose integration problems, performance limitations and operational dependencies earlier in the development process, when changes are generally less disruptive than modifications made after hardware has been built or launched.<\/p>\n<p>Sedaro\u2019s tools are designed to connect models, mission data and engineering applications in automated simulation workflows. The platform supports activities including mission design, spacecraft dynamics, communications analysis, ground-system modeling and comparison of alternative system configurations.<\/p>\n<p>The new funding expands work Sedaro has already performed with the Air Force Research Laboratory and Space Systems Command. In June 2026, the company announced that it had been selected to develop a digital engineering platform capable of integrating federated tools and models across the Space Force\u2019s engineering environment. That initial effort focused on demonstrating how models from separate parts of the toolchain could be connected to simulate complete mission threads and identify integration risks.<\/p>\n<p>The award\u2019s scale is notable because Sedaro\u2019s primary product is software rather than a launch vehicle, satellite bus or sensor payload. It reflects the growing role of modeling and simulation within military space acquisition, where planners must evaluate increasingly distributed systems and make architecture decisions before every component is available for physical testing.<\/p>\n<p>Digital mission analysis does not replace hardware qualification or on-orbit demonstrations. It can, however, allow program offices to explore more configurations, test failure scenarios and identify interfaces requiring additional attention before committing to costly hardware changes.<\/p>\n<p>The award establishes a funding ceiling for Sedaro\u2019s continued expansion of the platform.
