The spacecraft, designated Yaogan-51 07, 08 and 09, entered their planned orbit successfully. Chinese authorities said the satellites will support scientific experiments and electromagnetic environment detection. The mission was the 675th flight of the Long March launch-vehicle family.

The Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences led development of the three spacecraft. The academy said the flight marked its 100th satellite launch mission. Across those missions, it has successfully launched 407 communications, navigation, remote-sensing, scientific, micro- and nanosatellites.
The Long March 2C was developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp. The two-stage vehicle is approximately 43 meters long, has a 3.35-meter-diameter main body and weighs about 242.5 metric tons at liftoff. It uses storable liquid propellants and primarily serves low Earth orbit and sun-synchronous orbit missions.

Long March 2C first flew successfully in September 1982. The vehicle can conduct single- and multi-satellite launches and supports constellation deployment, with different configurations available to accommodate mission-specific payload arrangements.

The rocket has previously conducted repeated three-spacecraft deployments from Xichang. Between 2017 and 2021, Long March 2C vehicles launched 10 groups of three Yaogan-30 satellites. Official descriptions of those missions also identified electromagnetic environment detection and related technology testing among their objectives. China has not announced a technical or programmatic relationship between the Yaogan-30 and Yaogan-51 spacecraft.

The November 5 flight was the fifth publicly reported Long March 2C mission of 2026. Earlier launches carried two Algerian remote-sensing satellites, the Shiyan-33 experimental satellite and the SEO satellite. China has not disclosed when the Yaogan-51 07–09 spacecraft will complete in-orbit testing or enter operational service.

China’s expanding satellite manufacturing and launch capacity is widening international access to competitively priced space products and services.
