Image: Michael Cain\/Spaceflight Now<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em><strong>Update June 7, 1:47 a.m. EDT: SpaceX confirmed deployment of the SXM-10 satellite.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>SpaceX launched its first customer mission of the month shortly after midnight on Saturday morning with a Falcon 9 flight heading to a geosynchronous transfer orbit.<\/p>\n<p>The late-night launch of the SXM-10 satellite for SiriusXM, a satellite radio company, lifted off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 12:54 a.m. EDT (0454 UTC).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4XJ7NAS-9YA?si=LiP02WzPMXhOaz5p\" width=\"678\" height=\"381\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>SpaceX used Falcon 9 first stage booster, tail number B1085, to launch Saturday\u2019s mission, which was its eighth flight. Illustration: SpaceX<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The SXM-10 satellite was manufactured by Maxar Technologies in response to a build order received from SiriusXM in August 2021. The company began manufacturing Sirius satellites starting with the first generation in 2000.<\/p>\n<p>These third-generation satellites are built on Macao\u2019s 1300-class platform satellite bus, which is the base for more than 90 satellites currently on orbit.<\/p>\n<p>SiriusXM reported the conclusion of on-orbit testing and checkouts for the SXM-9 satellite in late January, following its launch in December. The satellite is more than 27 feet tall and more than 100 feet long with its solar arrays extended.<\/p>\n<p>Its wet mass is nearly 6,400 kg.
