At 14:43 on August 13, 2025, Satellite Internet Low Orbit Group 08 satellites (a total of 10 satellites) were successfully launched on the Long March 5B Y8/Yuanzheng 2 Y4 at the 101 station of the Wenchang Space Launch Site, and then successfully entered the predetermined orbit. With the successful completion of this launch mission, 71 satellites of my country’s satellite Internet constellation have been successfully launched.
What is special about this mission is that our country has completed four consecutive satellite Internet networking satellite launches within 18 days, showing that our country’s low-orbit satellite Internet constellation has started high-density networking.
At 18:03 on July 27, 2025, Satellite Internet Low Orbit Group 05 A to E stars (a total of 5 stars) were successfully launched on the Long March 6A Y14 at the LC-9A station of the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. The satellite successfully entered the predetermined orbit, and the launch mission was a complete success.
At 15:49 on July 30, 2025, the Satellite Internet Low Orbit Group 06 satellite (a total of 9 satellites) was successfully launched on the Long March 8A Y3 at the No. 1 station of the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site. Subsequently, the satellite successfully entered the predetermined orbit to complete the deployment, and the launch mission was a complete success.
At 18:21 on August 4, 2025, the Satellite Internet Low Orbit Group 07 satellite (a total of 9 satellites) was successfully launched aboard the Long March 12 Y2 at the second station of the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site. The satellite successfully entered the predetermined orbit, and the launch mission was a complete success.
At 14:43 on August 13, 2025, the Satellite Internet Low Orbit Group 08 satellite (a total of 10 satellites) was successfully launched on the Long March 5 B Y8/Yuanzheng 2 Y4 at the 101 station of the Wenchang Space Launch Site. The satellite successfully entered the predetermined orbit, and the launch mission was a complete success.
In 18 days, 4 arrows, 33 stars. Compared with only one low-orbit satellite launch (a total of 10 satellites) completed in 2024, the progress of low-orbit satellite Internet constellation networking has been significantly accelerated in 2025.
From the perspective of work stations, as the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site 1 and 2 have entered the normal launch stage, a total of 5 stations have successfully completed the “GW” constellation satellite launch mission, namely Wenchang Space Launch Site 101 Station, Wenchang Space Launch Site 201 Station, Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site Station 1, Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site Station 2, and Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center LC-9A Station.
From the perspective of rockets, four rockets have been successfully used in the “GW” constellation network satellite launch mission, namely Long March 5B, Long March 6A, Long March 8A, and Long March 12. Long March 5B, as my country’s new generation launch vehicle with the largest low-Earth orbit carrying capacity, has completed 7 launches so far, all of which were successful. Except for 4 space station-related missions, the rest were used for “GW” constellation network satellite launches. The Long March 6A is the only model among my country’s new generation Long March series of medium-sized launch vehicles that has been launched from an inland launch site. The test and launch cycle at the launch site is only 14 days, which can effectively guarantee the launch of polar orbit satellites. As a new rocket developed by the First Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology, the Long March 8A has completed its first flight at Station 201 of the Wenchang Space Launch Site and Station 1 of the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site, verifying its reliability and adding a new main rocket to my country’s medium and low orbit large-scale constellation networking missions. As a new rocket developed by the Eighth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology, the Long March 12 has successfully completed two launch missions at Station 2 of the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site, verifying its reliability. As my country’s first 3.8-meter-diameter single-core liquid launch vehicle, Long March 12 can adapt to launches from major domestic launch sites and will further enhance the networking efficiency of my country’s satellite Internet constellations in the future.
From the perspective of satellites, among the recent four missions, two satellites were developed by the Fifth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology, one satellite was developed by Shanghai Micro, and one satellite was developed by Galaxy Aerospace. This shows that the overall satellite enterprise of the first-generation satellite has taken shape, and all three have completed the launch of test satellites before. In the future, with the continuous catalysis of orders, there will be new changes in the production capacity, production methods, and production efficiency of satellite companies, thereby accelerating the networking task.
