[Via Satellite 06-14-2016] Orbcomm received a contract from Genscape, a global provider of energy information for commodity, shipping and financial markets, to provide its satellite Automatic Identification System (AIS) services. Genscape customers will use the data provided through Orbcomm’s second-generation constellation of Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.
Orbcomm’s satellite network provides revisit rates of eight to 15 minutes over most of the world, with average vessel reporting latency of slightly less than 10 minutes worldwide and as short as one minute in many areas.
