[03-29-10] New York City sports broadcaster MSG will telecast the March 24 NHL hockey match between the Rangers and Islanders in 3-D, marking the first time that U.S. home viewers will received a live 3-D sports telecast, MSG announced March 26.
MSG HD subscribers with 3D compatible televisions will be able to watch the telecast on a separate channel offered by the broadcast network Cablevision.
The game will be shot using 3ality Digital’s image-capturing technology, which integrates 3D imagery with existing broadcast equipment. 3ality is also the technology provider for BSkyB‘s January Premiere League Soccer broadcast, the first live 3-D broadcasts of NFL and college football games shown in theaters, and the 2010 Sony Open golf tournament.
