The engagement began as a small Gen-2 pilot that grew into a large annual Gen-3 Assured subscription, delivering committed tasking and predictable collection continuity over the customer’s designated areas of interest. The latest agreement expands the customer’s Assured access and represents what BlackSky describes as the land-and-expand pattern of adoption among its international customers.
Assured is designed for mission readiness, enabling customers to monitor and secure borders, counter UAV threats, and protect forces during conflict. The expanded access combines the high-cadence, time-diverse revisit rates of Gen-2 with the 35cm resolution of Gen-3 imagery to maintain persistent situational awareness across any theater. Gen-3’s enhanced image clarity improves AI-enabled detection, identification, and classification of vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and other objects of tactical relevance.
Customers incorporate Gen-2 and Gen-3 data into their existing workflow through BlackSky Spectra, a fully automated architecture that enables sustained dynamic monitoring over multiple locations and rapid collection of low-latency, very high-resolution imagery in response to localized, swiftly evolving events.
“This expansion exemplifies the type of accelerated adoption of Gen-3 and our Assured services among our international customers as they experience the game-changing performance in their day-to-day tactical ISR operations, reflecting positive momentum in our land-and-expand strategy and the highly differentiated value of our combined offerings,” said Brian O’Toole, BlackSky CEO. He added that Assured “offers unmatched guaranteed collection commitments to provide an industry-leading, real-time intelligence capability with superior clarity for mission critical decision advantage.”
According to BlackSky, the expansion demonstrates how customers in demanding operational environments are scaling their use of the company’s combined Gen-2 and Gen-3 offerings for day-to-day tactical ISR operations, with guaranteed collection commitments providing decision advantage at the tactical edge.
BlackSky is headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, and trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BKSY. The company owns and operates a commercial real-time intelligence system that pairs the Spectra tasking and analytics platform with its proprietary low Earth orbit satellite constellation, serving U.S. and international government agencies and commercial customers.
