The Sixth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology, also known as the China Academy of Aerospace Propulsion Technology, was founded in 1965. It is the head unit specialized in liquid rocket engines in my country and has supplied more than 50 types of rocket engines to my country’s liquid rockets.

3. Composition of departments
(1) 11 schools
Institute 11 is a liquid rocket engine design institute that has successfully developed more than 60 types of liquid rocket engines, including large rocket first and second stages, booster stages, upper stage engines and attitude control engines, which are used in various fields of missiles, rockets, satellites and spacecrafts.
(2) Shanghai Space Propulsion Institute (801 Institute)
The 801 Institute is mainly engaged in the research, design and production of space propulsion systems and medium and small thrust attitude orbit control liquid rocket engines. It has a product series of Hall thrusters with power from 100 watts to 100 kilowatts and thrust from 5 mN to 5 N.
(3) Beijing Institute of Aerospace Experimental Technology (101 Institute)
Institute 101 was established on April 10, 1958. It is located in Yungang Aerospace City, Fengtai District, Beijing. It is the earliest, largest, most comprehensive, and most technologically advanced liquid rocket power system comprehensive test and research base in China. It is China’s only liquid rocket propellant research center and a professional research institute that masters hydrogen-oxygen rocket engine testing technology.
(4) Xi’an Aerospace Power Experiment Technology Research Institute (165 Institute)
Institute 165 was established in 1965 and is headquartered in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. It is my country’s largest and most comprehensive research institute specializing in liquid rocket engine test technology research. 165 Institute has the largest liquid rocket engine test bed in Asia, an internationally advanced and domestically leading engine environment simulation test bed.
(5) Xi’an Aerospace Engine Factory
Xi’an Aerospace Engine Factory is a liquid rocket manufacturing plant. It has the most complete domestic professional liquid rocket engine development and production support conditions such as mechanical processing, welding, casting, forging, sheet metal forming, surface engineering, heat treatment, electrical processing, assembly testing, metrology, physics and chemistry, and testing.
(6) Shaanxi Aerospace Commercial Engine Co., Ltd.
Shaanxi Aerospace Commercial Engine Co., Ltd. was established in December 2022 and is located in the High-tech Zone of Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. As an innovative demonstration of the Sixth Academy’s promotion of industrial market-oriented transformation, the purpose is to use the opportunity of commercial aerospace development to open up the path of “scientific and technological achievements-industrial development-capital operation” to achieve efficient collaboration and positive interaction among model mission completion, rapid industrial development, and standardized capital operation.
(7) Shaanxi Aerospace Power High-tech Co., Ltd.
Shaanxi Aerospace Power High-tech Co., Ltd. is a listed company in the civil industry. It was established in December 1999 with stock code 600343. The company takes aerospace liquid power technology as its core and is mainly engaged in the R&D and manufacturing of special equipment and energy conservation and environmental protection industries.
(8) Xi’an Aerospace Metrology and Testing Institute
Xi’an Aerospace Metrology and Testing Institute is located in Xi’an. It has six professional metrology and testing laboratories, which can carry out testing of various military models and components, as well as professional metrology technology research, verification and testing work such as geometric quantities, machine tool instruments, thermal science, mechanics, vibration and vacuum.
