French radio frequency (RF) detection specialist Unseenlabs has awarded GomSpace a €2.2 million (US$2.5 million) contract to build two additional cubesats, further expanding its space-based maritime surveillance constellation.
The satellites will be manufactured using GomSpace’s 8U cubesat platform and are scheduled for delivery in 2027.
Constellation Expansion Continues
The latest order increases the total number of cubesats Unseenlabs has purchased from GomSpace to 16.
The companies have collaborated on multiple satellite orders since 2022, with previous contracts signed in 2022, 2024, and 2025.

The new satellites will strengthen Unseenlabs’ growing radio frequency detection network, which is designed to locate vessels that cannot be tracked through conventional Automatic Identification System (AIS) transmissions.
Supporting Maritime Surveillance
Unseenlabs operates a constellation dedicated to detecting radio frequency emissions from ships, enabling maritime authorities and commercial customers to monitor vessels even when AIS signals are unavailable or intentionally disabled.
The company has launched 22 satellites to date, with its most recent spacecraft entering orbit aboard Japan’s H3 launch vehicle in June.
Unseenlabs is also preparing to deploy its next-generation Gen 2 satellites, which are expected to enhance RF signal detection performance while expanding monitoring capabilities beyond maritime surveillance to include land- and space-based applications.
