[Via Satellite 06-20-2014] Avanti Communications released a proprietary application for Android smartphones or tablets to help with Ka-band satellite field installations. This Avanti Mobile Assist platform will help with job allocation support, antenna line-up, initiation of service and reporting for engineers.
The application assists in all stages of standard installation of Hughes terminals, and can cut installation equipment costs by up to 75 percent, reducing installation time by up to 20 percent as well. The application eliminates the necessity of tools such as a horizon satellite meter, a laptop, an external Global Positioning System (GPS) unit, a compass or a camera.
