GomSpace Showcases New Camera System for Earth Observation Projects

GomSpace, one of the global leading manufacturers and suppliers of CubeSat and small satellite solutions for customers in the academic, government, and commercial markets has introduced a new high-performing camera system for earth observation projects.

The NanoCam C1U system from GomSpace is a flexible and modular system to rapidly implement tailored imaging systems based on customer requirements. It is an off-the-shelf configuration consisting of a lens, lens table, image acquisition, processing board, and software.

It features an integrated system with an industrial lens, a 3-megapixel color sensor, and advanced data processing with onboard storage. The NanoCam C1U consists of a 1/2″ (4:3) format color CMOS sensor with a 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution and a 10-bit RGB Bayer pattern.

The camera system has a high-performance ARM processor for data processing and 512 MB onboard DDR2 RAM and 2 GB solid-state image storage. It supports CSP-enable CAN, I2C, and TTL level serial interfaces and a serial port with a text-based console for debugging.

NanoCam C1U has been designed to be implementable in a standard 1U CubeSat structure together with GomSpace’s on-board computers, attitude control system, radio transceiver, and power products to allow low-cost Earth observation using CubeSats.
